Creating The Ashutosh Gazette
My experience building a minimalist, human-centric publication platform.
Welcome to The Ashutosh Gazette! This platform was built as a creative outlet and a minimalist publication exploring software engineering, creative design, and human-centric technology.
The Vision
I wanted a space that reflects my personal aesthetic—clean typography, subtle dark mode aesthetics, and a distraction-free reading experience. While there are countless blogging platforms out there, building my own gave me the ultimate freedom to fine-tune the design and performance.
Technology Stack
The site is built with modern web technologies that prioritize speed and developer experience. The architecture focuses on:
- Fast page loads through static site generation.
- A component-based design system.
- Markdown and MDX for seamless content authoring.
This allows me to write articles directly in Markdown, complete with frontmatter for metadata, and automatically render them into the beautiful layout you see today.
Looking Forward
This site will serve as a living portfolio and a journal of my technical journey. I plan to document my experiences with challenging projects—like my recent work on the C++ Database Engine (CDB1)—and share insights on software engineering and design.
I’m incredibly excited to see where this goes. You can explore the repository for this site, along with my other highlighted projects, over on my GitHub.
